Through Saffron Kitchen, the Association provides hot packed meals three days per week

(Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).

The project offers two options on every meal day. The meals are simple but nutritious, not to mention delicious as well! A modest charge is attached to the meal to assist with the cost of meal production, packaging and delivery. We have also provided free meals to people with referrals from Rural Action Derbyshire, Derbyshire County Council and other welfare organisations.

 

HOW IT BEGAN:

For some time, the Association saw need in the community for a mid-day meal delivery service for elderly and vulnerable people and carers. We knew from our own members, associate members and a wider community survey that a need existed. 

In 2020, the Asian Association was successful in receiving a Big Lottery - Reaching Communities Grant and Tesco Bags of Help COVID-19 Communities Fund for this project.
