Join us this Diwali for Echoes of the Soul, a spectacular intercultural celebration of rhythm, movement, and storytelling. This artist-led production brings together international and UK-based performers to premiere two powerful new works that blend traditional and contemporary art forms across music, dance, and visual storytelling.
Taking center stage is a dynamic ensemble piece by Kathak Rockers (Mumbai) and Footnote Productions (Ireland). Developed during a week-long creative residency in Chesterfield, this high-energy performance uses rhythm, live music, and movement to explore themes of heritage, identity, and modern cultural expression.
Another highlight of the evening is an evocative duet between renowned Kathak dancer Sonia Sabri and acclaimed English folk and clog dancer Hannah James. This unique collaboration bridges two rich dance traditions through percussive footwork, expressive gesture, and musical storytelling. It marks the beginning of an exciting, longer-term choreographic journey set to evolve beyond this performance.
